Beautiful late 18th century Louis XVI period oak Norman marriage double bed. Fine hand carved solid oak details. A lovely combination of typical Louis XVI period stylised moulding and symbols of love and marriage. The footboard panel has wheatsheaf and bread oven paddles, so likely the family were bakers or a miller. The pipes are a traditional Norman small bagpipe, the Loure, popular in the 17th & 18th century French court.
The frame takes a standard double 4’6” x 6’3” mattress.
Newly fitted with wooden slats and centre bar
